Business Checklist – Tick Off & Be Prepared
As the end of the financial year approaches, taking the time to prepare now can helpyou stay compliant, identify opportunities, and make informed business decisions. Use this checklist to ensure you have everything ready for a smooth review.
Tip: The more complete your documents and prep, the more productive your strategy session will be. This saves time, avoids chasing information, and makes your session money well invested.
1. Stock, Work in Progress & Assets (Have records of below)
- Complete stocktake and have a record Stock on Hand as at 30/06/2026 (if applicable)
- Record Work in Progress as at 30/06/2026 (If applicable)
- Livestock businesses: record Livestock on Hand for purchases, sales, births, deaths and rations as at 30/06/2026
- Record odometer readings for all business vehicles as at 30/06/2026
2. Payroll & Employee Obligations
- Check that any employee bonuses have been processed correctly (tax & super)
- Ensure you are set up with payday super as at 1 July 2026
- Review and update wage rates for employees & apprentices from 01/07/2026
- Submit Single Touch Payroll (STP) Finalisation by 14/07/2026
- Ensure superannuation contributions for the June quarter are paid by 14/07/2026 (to allow processing time)
- Submit Annual Payroll Tax Return by 21/07/2026 (if applicable)
3. GST & BAS Obligations
- Check PAYG withholding reconciliation for the year
- If you lodge a monthly BAS, lodge the June BAS by 21/07/2026 (check with your accountant if they will be doing this for you)
- If you lodge a quarterly BAS, lodge the June BAS by:
- Paper lodgement: 28/07/2026
- Lodge yourself online: 11/08/2026
- If we lodge for you: 26/08/2026 (check with your accountant if they will be doing this for you)
4. Subcontractor & Industry Reporting (if applicable)
- Lodge Taxable Payments Annual Report (TPAR) by 28/08/2026 for industries:
- Building & construction
- Cleaning
- Courier & road freight
- IT services
- Security, investigation, surveillance
5. Workcover & Insurance
- Renew Workcover Declarations to Workcover QLD by 31/08/2026
- Confirm payment and coverage are up to date.
6. Optional Checks to Maximise EOFY Planning
- Review overdue debtors and creditors
- Consider asset purchases before 30/06/2026 to optimise deductions
- Review insurance coverage (business & personal)
